Blackbords

Over the course of a few years Serlin worked on black boards in chalk drawings and collage. Serlin sees drawing on the board as drawing in motion, a live accumulation that draws strength from erasure as well as from drawing. In the black board works she collects visual signs that she finds in archives while creating new contexts that change during the drawing and erasing, in that she simulates the motions of life and memory as well as the motions of forgetfullness and death of the image. Work on the board is site specific that will ultimately be erased.
